Nicole Sylvester Cates

 

Nicole Cates has been dancing and twilring since the age of 2. She won her first national twirling title at the age of 6.  Nicole continued to study baton and dance at Michelle's Dance and Twirl Academy and won nurmerous state,  nationals, and world titles. Nicole was on the team that won $1500.00 at Showstoppers National Dance Competition.

 Before Nicole retired from competitive twirling she had won over 7 national titles including The 1993 Teenage Miss Majorette of America. Nicole was feature twirler and cheerleader at Jackson High School. As a Jazz Doll Nicole traveled on the 1993 USA team and brought home a gold medal from France.

After Hign School she continued to study dance at Indiana State University, where she recieved a full scholarship to be Feature Twirler. She also was on the Sparkette dance and cheer squad and attended nationals with them. From there Nicole continued her education at Akron taking dance classes and finishing her degree in education..

Now, Nicole is co-owner of the studio, a 6th grade math and science teacher and a full time teacher at MDTA STARS!

Jennifer Nero  Bunish

Jennifer Bunish  has been dancing and twilring since the age of 2.  She has studied baton and dance at Michelle's Dance and Twirl Academy and won nurmerous state,  nationals, and world titles. Jennifer was on the team that won $1500.00 at Showstoppers National Dance Competition. Jennifer's greatest moment waswhen she was Dorthy in juvenile Jazz Dolls.

Jennifer's accomplishments

  • 4 time national champion including 1993 College Miss Majorette of America and Senior Grand National Twirling Champion.
  • Feature Twiler at GlenOak High School
  • Cheerleader  at GlenOak High School
  • Feature Twiler at Youngstown State University

Tim Moore

 

          MDTA STARS would like to welcome Tim Moore as a new staff member. Tim will be teaching Ballet, Technique, Gymnastics and Competition Classes. Tim brings with him over 43 years of experience and training in ballet, baton and gymnastics.

 

          Tim studied classical ballet under Barry and Ann Baker Vancura at the Ohio’s Ballet Midwest in Youngstown. Tim received a ballet scholarship to further his training and danced with the Cleveland Ballet Company. Tim was a guest performer in the Canton Ballet’s Nutcracker.

 

          Tim was also a member of the Centurions under the direction of Ronnie Javens.  He was the Pennsylvania State Champion and All American National Champion in 1981.

Baton Privates and Jazz Dolls

 

Annette Sylvester. 

Annette is a director of the Jazz Dolls. She coaches numerous
feature twirlers both high school and college. Annette has also had
hundreds of state, national, and world baton twirlers. 

Sasha Garret Anderson

Sasha has been twirling since age 9. She was a Jazz Doll for many years and won many state titles as a soloist. Sasha was a Hoover Majorette and is available to give girls privates that are acquiring to be a majorette


Hip Hop

 

Chaundra Johnson is a GlenOak graduate who has studied dance since she was 8 years old. She is up to date with the latest moves and dance trends.


Allison Tatsch

 

Allison Tatsch: has been a part of MDTA Stars, since she was about 5. She took baton, ballet, jazz, and acrobat. Allison was also a member of the jazz dolls twirling corps for 9 years. She twirled at GLenOAk HIgh School all 4 years and my junior year, had the honor of being feature twirler. Allison also took part in the GlenOak Dance Ensemble. If she could, she would twirl and dance again because its something that i love doing
